Let’s  face it, adulting is hard. But creating a good vision board might help!

Visualization is a great way to achieve your goals. And vision boards might help you getting your goals set and inspire you to achieve it! These boards represent our desires, our goals and dreams. A vision board is your map of action in life.

“Mental imagery impacts many crucial cognitive processes in the brain… The brain is getting trained for actual performance during visualization. It’s been found that mental practices can enhance motivation, increase confidence and self-efficacy, improve motor performance, prime your brain for success, and increase states of flow.” (Psychology Today)

You may have read or heard about “The Secret”, by Rhonda Byrne. Let me tell you, how a great book it is! That book changed my point of view in life. I realized the power we had if we put our visualization exercise in practice. And let me tell you, it works wonders!

If you visualize a specific goal, you will concentrate in it and mantain your focus, and you won’t get easily distracted by the world around you. Things will be clearer, and you’ll walk through the path to achieve that goal without realizing.

You can also use a vision board to improve your motivations and to remind you of your achivements. Use it to pass the ideas inside your head to the physical world!

How to create a vision board?

You can draw your ideas and goals, you can cut and paste or print pieces of magazines, quotes, books… Put a title, make it personal, be positive! Create your own story; do you want to finish college? Write/draw all the steps that will lead you to it. Want to find someone special? Do the same visualizing the caractheristics you like to see in that person. Put your vision board in a place that will make you look and think about it. For some, it can be in front of their desk, for others, it may be in a private notebook. If technology is your thing, you have great tools to create dreams boards, such as Evernote and Pinterest.

Use your imagination to create the life you want to live, believe in your goals and in what you can do to achieve them, use your dream board to inspire your path in life.
